North Carolina is one of five states with the greatest improvement in number of students succeeding Advanced Placement exams in high school. North Carolina had a 5.8% increase in the number of students scoring 3 or higher on AP exams during high school years. As a result of these improvements, more students are graduating from high schools each year. Here are the requirements:

High School Graduation Requirements for North Carolina

4 credits of English
3 credits of Mathematics
3 credits of Science
3 credits of Social Studies
1 credits each of Health and Physical Education
4 credits of Career or Technical
4 credits of JROTC or Arts Education
2 credits of Electives or other requirements

North Carolina also offers a College or University Prep program. The requirements are as follows:

4 credits of English
4 credits of Mathematics
3 credits of Science
3 credits of Social Studies
2 credits of a Second Language
1 credits each of Health and Physical Education
3 credits of Electives or other requirements

Note: Arts Education is recommended with at least one credit in an arts discipline.
